As the city prepares for the annual Cape Town Jazz Festival on 28 and 29 March, Gugulethu was treated to a preview of what to expect at the event.

On 27 March, Intyholo Jazz Development Project workshop was held in Gugulethu at the Ray Alexander Simons Memory Centre. People had the chance to listen to the likes of Tasha’s World, a musician from Holland, and homegrown, award-winning group The Soil.

Learners from the Intyholo Jazz Development Project, who come from disadvantaged primary and high schools in the Western Cape, also had the opportunity to get up on the stage with the acts and show off their skills with different instruments. The audience, some from as far afield as Botswana and Johannesburg, performed as part of the workshop.
