Answer to a question from a reader

I am a recipient of an RDP house. Where can I find my title deed?

The short answer

The Deeds Office is responsible for registration and management of title deeds.

The whole question

I am a beneficiary of an RDP house in Polokwane. I would like to know where and how to check and claim the title deed.

The long answer

Thank you for your email asking where and how you can check and claim the title deed to your RDP house in Polokwane.

The Deeds Office is responsible for registration and management of title deeds. It is located at 101 Dorp Street near the Provincial Hospital in central Polokwane (the Capricorn district). Its telephone number is 015 283 2300, but they will not give out
information on deeds by telephone; you need to go in person.

Before you go there, you must have the correct erf number and township or farm name of the property, not the street address, and the full names and / or ID number of the owner, which is you, in this case.

You must go to the information desk at the deeds office where they will help you fill out a prescribed form and request a search. You must pay the required fee of R14 at the cashier’s office and the receipt number will be allocated to your copy of the title deed.
