On Saturday, Manchester United played Ajax in Cape Town as one of their pre-season training friendly matches.

The club has been travelling around the world, and was scheduled to play in China after the Ajax match.

When United arrived at Cape Town on noon at Friday, the airport was full with fans hoping to get photos and maybe even a player signature. The turnout in Cape town was good, and the stadium was filled with red because this is the colour of both Ajax and United.

On Saturday, even though it was wet and rainy in Cape Town, supporters participated in the fan walk to the Cape Town stadium where the game kicked off at 15:00. The game was sold out.

Alcardo Van Graan from Ajax scored the first goal of the game. The game ended end in a draw, when Manchester United scored in the last four minutes.

United midfielders Jesse Lingard and Luis Antonio Valencia spoke to GroundUp. Both said they enjoyed Cape Town’s vibe and would definitely come back.
